Who Likes Facebook Shares?
Friday, May 18th marked the first day of trading for Facebook (FB), one of the most anticipated technology Initial Public Offerings ever. Although the stock popped early in its first day of trading, Facebook shares finished 10% below their $38 IPO price on Monday. Investors are wondering if they should hold on to their positions or sell.
The top shareholder of Facebook’s peer group is T. Rowe Price, which holds over $18Bn as of Monday’s close. Fidelity and Capital World are the number two and three shareholders in Facebook’s peer group, with $16.9Bn and $10.6Bn, respectively.
Based on investor style, Growth-oriented investors make up 29% of Facebook’s peer group ownership, with GARP and Index investors close behind.
Geographically, the vast majority of investors in Facebook’s peers are domiciled in the Americas, with only 14% domiciled in EMEA and Asia.
