Q3 2012 Fixed Income Trends

Global holdings of IG corporate debt totaled $2.9 trillion by those institutions that publicly filed their fixed income positions.  Net purchases were $122.3 billion, and net sales totaled $94.3 billion.  Global holdings of HY corporate debt totaled $813.8 billion by those institutions that publicly filed their fixed income positions.  Net purchases were $51.1 billion, and net sales totaled $11.4 billion.  Check out our full fixed income quarterly report for more information.

Where did equity go in Q3 2012?

From Q2 ’12 to Q3 ’12, institutional ownership of public global equity securities increased from $21.6 trillion to $22.7 trillion, an increase of 4.83%.  Institutions in the Americas hold roughly 70% of these equity assets, those in Europe, the Middle East , and Africa hold 20% of this equity, and Asian institutional investors own 10%.  Check out our full equity quarterly report for more information.

Carl Icahn offers to buy Oshkosh Corp

Leap Wireless International submits plan to improve

Berkshire Hathaway Files Q2 2012 Holdings

Home Depot Inc Exceeds Expectations

Home Depot Inc seems to have benefited from its recent efforts to tighten cost controls and improve distribution and customer service. It beat Wall Street’s profit estimates in the second quarter and raised its fiscal year earnings outlook. Net earnings rose to $1.53 billion from $1.36 billion last year. Sales rose 1.7% to $20.57 billion and shares of HD-N rose 1.3% to $53.50 before the market opened. The company, which has stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China, reported a 0.6% increase in the number of customer transactions in the second quarter. It has cut costs quicker than its main rival Lowe’s Companies Inc, whose shares were last sold for $26.55.

Disney Earnings Beat Wall Street Expectations

Walt Disney Co posted strong Q2 2012 earnings, rising 31% for the quarter.  The company attributed its success to excellent box office sales of its movie “The Avengers” as well as improved revenue from its theme parks.  If Disney can continue to outperform, its shareholders will benefit.  Here are Disney’s top 10 active institutional investors.
