Reuters got exclusive access aboard Saif al-Islam Gaddafi’s flight from capture on Saturday.

Reuters reporter Marie-Louise Gumuchian, photographer Ismail Zitouny and TV cameraman Mahmoud al Farjani accompanied Saif al-Islam along with 4 other prisoners from Obari to Zintan. Reuters was the only news organization onboard the plane.

Here’s a colorful excerpt:

Marie-Louise approached the prisoner as he huddled on a bench at the rear of the plane.

The man who held court to the world’s media in the early months of the Arab Spring was now on a 90-minute flight bound for the town of Zintan near Tripoli.

He sat frowning, silent and seemingly lost in thought for part of the way, nursing his right hand, bandaged around the thumb and two fingers. At other times he chatted calmly with his captors and even posed for a picture.

When it was time to exit the plane, Marie-Louise moved past him to the aircraft steps. “Gaddafi looked up and, without a word, briefly took her hand.”
