Nurturing Growth Professionally and Personally
We’re proud of the outstanding contributions our employees make to Thomson Reuters, so we asked them to share their stories about their work, their teams and their colleagues. Whether supporting customers or colleagues, or managing our systems and information our employees put the right information in the hands of the right people so our customers can achieve amazing things. Each week we will feature one of these stories to show their passion, collaboration, creativity and how they drive our business forward.
To me, Findlaw is an ever evolving place to learn and grow my career while providing the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from around the world. Since joining in November of 2010, I’ve been exposed to a new world of metrics, measurements, and a fresh approach to product development. Together with my team of highly skilled colleagues, we’ve graduated from focusing on smaller products to bigger ones such as FirmSite 4, blog design & development as well as generating innovation ideas year round. All of these activities help connect our customers, attorneys and consumers, and provide both with access to important legal information. It’s a great feeling to have achieved all of this considering our team is just around 20 months old.
Our team’s success today is due in large part to our goal of always exceeding expectations and doing something outside of our core responsibilities. Going the extra mile is the norm for us and for that we’ve been acknowledged by senior management which is a huge motivator. My role has provided me the opportunity to interact with my global partners, providing insight around how cross location teams can work together successfully to deliver a common goal. I’ve seen the benefit of bringing teams together with different cultural backgrounds and how the output reflects different viewpoints helping provide a better solution to the problem at hand. I’ve also seen similar benefits as a result of our diverse management and the new solutions we’ve adopted.
In addition to the experiences I’ve had within the workplace, I’ve also had the chance to be a part of several Thomson Reuters volunteer initiatives such as “Go Green,” fund raising for the poor or even spending a day with disabled children and helping them to be self-sufficient. This has enabled me to act on my desire to give back to society. I feel completely fulfilled by being given the opportunity and bandwidth to manage a busy career and home life and also by being able to give a bit back to those around me.
