Reuters will now offer high definition video footage, globally, as part of a new service, developed in collaboration with clients. To launch this initiative, Reuters will provide live HD coverage worldwide of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in London, beginning on June 3rd with the Thames Jubilee Pageant. On June 5th Reuters will also offer live HD coverage of the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Formal Carriage Procession by the Queen.

On July 3rd, Reuters will expand its service to offer edited HD video content to all of its clients, as part of an exclusive engagement program. During the first phase of the HD rollout, Reuters will establish consultative relationships with its customers to determine current and future HD requirements, content preferences and formats and related support services, to develop and refine the best HD product in the market.

Clients will have access to a wide range of edited news, sports and entertainment stories, all delivered in HD, as well as extensive HD coverage of special events including the 2012 London Summer Olympics and the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.

In September, Reuters will then expand delivery of HD content to a wider group of clients and will complete the full conversion to HD with the next generation of Reuters WNE satellite delivery platform in July 2013. Reuters will also continue to offer Standard Definition content simultaneously, ensuring that clients have the best content format to address their needs.
