Eagan Woman @ Thomson Reuters Community Outreach Group Hosts Girls in Action

Earlier this month, the Eagan Women @ Thomson Reuters Community Outreach group hosted 25 teenage girls from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis as part of the school’s Girls in Action program. Founded by Dr. Verna Price, Girls in Action provides high school girls the opportunity to interact with women in professional roles through mentorship, business visits and other programs. During their visit to the Eagan Campus, the girls were treated to a tour of the facilities, saw what it takes to build a web page with FindLaw, experienced a global telepresence meeting and even made a short video at the media center.

Girls in Action is a program for high school girls that is integrated into their regular school day. The project is an innovative four-tiered, curriculum-based program that strives to decrease and prevent violence among urban high school girls while positively reengaging them in academics and leadership. As part of that project they look for opportunities to get exposed to women in corporations that can serve as positive role models and expose the girls to opportunities for their future.

After their tour and telepresence session, the visit concluded with a pizza lunch and small table discussions with members of the Community outreach group, including Susan Denkinger,  Suzanne Lang, Mary Feldsien,Betty Wetherell-Gustafson, Ann Olson, Tanya Berg, and Martha Field.

The girls were all very energetic and excited to see our facilities, and learn about Thomson Reuters.
