German government considering Commerzbank stake sale

On July 16, 2013, Reuters reported that the German government may be planning to sell their 17 percent stake in Commerzbank in order to finally exit from the country’s second largest lender. Germany bailed out Commerzbank during the financial turmoil in 2009, and the state has been left with shares in the company since then.  If Germany decides to sell its stake, the following shareholders may be affected.

SoftBank-Sprint Deal Finally Closes

SoftBank Corp (9984-TO) announced its plans to acquire Sprint Nextel in October of 2012. The $21.6 billion deal was approved by The Federal Communications Commission on Friday in order for Sprint Nextel to compete with larger telecommunications networks such as Verizon and AT&T. Q3 2012 Fixed Income Trends

Global holdings of IG corporate debt totaled $2.9 trillion by those institutions that publicly filed their fixed income positions.  Net purchases were $122.3 billion, and net sales totaled $94.3 billion.  Global holdings of HY corporate debt totaled $813.8 billion by those institutions that publicly filed their fixed income positions.  Net purchases were $51.1 billion, and net sales totaled $11.4 billion.  Check out our full fixed income quarterly report for more information.

Where did equity go in Q3 2012?

From Q2 ’12 to Q3 ’12, institutional ownership of public global equity securities increased from $21.6 trillion to $22.7 trillion, an increase of 4.83%.  Institutions in the Americas hold roughly 70% of these equity assets, those in Europe, the Middle East , and Africa hold 20% of this equity, and Asian institutional investors own 10%.  Check out our full equity quarterly report for more information.

Carl Icahn offers to buy Oshkosh Corp

Leap Wireless International submits plan to improve

As Google Inc continues to compete with Facebook in the mobile social media space, photo editing has become more and more important.  In order to compete with Facebook’s Instagram, Google purchased Nik Software, which makes the photo editing application Snapseed.  If Google’s investment pays off, its top shareholders should reap benefits.

Berkshire Hathaway Files Q2 2012 Holdings
